Man Shot After Attempted Robbery in Central Islip
The man was hospitalized with minor injuries.
CENTRAL ISLIP, NY - One person was hospitalized after being shot by a man who attempted to rob a woman in Central Islip on Friday night, according to Suffolk Police.
A woman was in a driveway on Hackmatac Street when she was approached by a man with a gun at 11 p.m. who demanded money, police said.
After the woman did not give him money, she screamed and another man exited the Hackmatac Street home.

The attempted robber and the man ran down the street when the attempted robber fired the gun and struck the man, police said.
The robber escaped without receiving any proceeds, police said. The man was transported to Southside Hospital in Bay Shore with minor injuries.

There were no arrests and the investigation is continuing.
