Motorcyclist Ejected Onto Lawn In Serious Islip Crash: Police
A Honda motorcycle went through a stop sign before striking an SUV on South Bay Avenue, police say.
ISLIP, NY — A motorcyclist was seriously injured in a crash Tuesday evening in Islip, Suffolk County police said.
An Islip woman was driving her Chevrolet Tahoe SUV east on Raymond Street and stopped at a stop sign at the intersection of South Bay Avenue before proceeding through the intersection toward Wave Crest Drive around 6:52 p.m., police said.
At the same time, Jefferson Vanegas Rivas, 20, of Bay Shore, was riding a 2006 Honda CBR motorcycle north on South Bay Avenue when he went through a stop sign without stopping and struck the front passenger side of Finnerty’s Chevrolet, police said.

After the collision, the motorcycle struck a curb, ejecting Vanegas Rivas onto the lawn of 99 South Bay Ave., police said.
Vanegas Rivas was transported to South Shore University Hospital in Bay Shore for treatment of serious injuries, police said.

The Islip driver was not injured.
Both vehicles were impounded for safety checks, police said.
