Man With Loaded Gun Drove Tractor Trailor On LI Parkway: PD

ISLIP, NY — A 22-year-old man was arrested Tuesday after police found him to be in possession of a loaded handgun without a permit in East Islip, police said

According to New York State Police, at 3:14 p.m., officers responded to a man driving a tractor trailer who was on the shoulder of the Sagtikos Parkway in the southbound lane north of Exit S4.

Rafael Velasquez of Fairfield, Texas, was found to have the gun without a New York pistol permit; he was arrested and charged with second-degree criminal possession of a weapon, a felony, police said.

Velasquez was arraigned at Suffolk County First District Court on Wednesday, police said.
