NYSDOT Announces Closure of Southbound Sagtikos Parkway On Friday

ISLIP, NY — The southbound lane of the Sagtikos State Parkway will be closed overnight in Islip on Friday between midnight and 5 a.m., the New York State Department of Transportation said.

The closure will be to facilitate bridge maintenance at Pine Wire Drive, the NYSDOT said, weather permitting.

Motorists will follow a signed detour onto exit S2 (Pilgrim Psych Center) for access to Crooked Hill Road (Suffolk County Route 13) southbound to Fifth Avenue southbound, then westbound on Pine Aire Drive, for the southbound entrance to the parkway.

Electronic variable message signs have been posted near the work zone and will provide updated information.

Motorists are urged to plan accordingly and drive responsibly in work zones. Fines are doubled for speeding in a work zone, NYSDOT said. Convictions of two or more speeding violations in a work zone could result in the suspension of an individual’s driver license.
