$5,000 Reward Offered for Info in Fatal Hit-and-Run

Police say the Honda Civic that fled the scene of the September crash may have been damage on its driver's side.

CENTRAL ISLIP, NY - Police are offering a reward of up to $5,000 for information on a driver who fled the scene of a fatal hit-and-run crash in Central Islip back in September.

Willie Dinkins, 86, (pictured above) was walking east on Suffolk Avenue, west of Wheeler Road, on Sept. 16 at 1:58 a.m. when he was struck by a 2001-2005 Honda Civic four-door sedan, police said.

Police say that the Civic may have been damage on its driver’s side. The driver’s side black side-view mirror was left at the scene of the crash.

Detectives ask anyone with information on the vehicle, the driver of the Civic or the crash to call the Major Case Unit at 631-852-6555 or call anonymously to Crime Stoppers at 1-800-220-TIPS.
