Three People, Dog Hospitalized After Collision With Ambulance

The crash occurred on the LIE on Monday morning.

Three people and his dog were hospitalized after crashing with an ambulance on the Long Island Expressway on Monday morning, according to Suffolk Police.

A man was driving a 2015 Subaru eastbound on the LIE when his car was struck by a Lakeland Fire Department ambulance that was making a U-turn between exits 58 and 59 at 10:23 a.m.

The ambulance was responding to a multiple-vehicle crash on the westbound LIE at exit 59.

The driver of the Subaru was transported to Southside Hospital in Bay Shore to be treated for non-life-threatening injuries, police said.

The man had his dog, Grace, in the car with him.

The dog was transported to an animal hospital to be evaluated, police said.

Two EMTs in the ambulance were transported to Stony Brook Hospital for treatment of minor injuries, according to police.
