ISLIP, NY - Residents within the Islip Terrace, East Islip and Islip fire districts hit the polls to elect a new commissioner this week. In the Islip Fire District, incumbent Fred Herrmann beat out challenger Carmine Paolicelli. In East Islip, residents chose Jerry Leigh over Matthew Marone as the new commissioner. He was elected to a five-year term. Islip Terrace residents voted for incumbent Keith Miller for another five-year term. He beat out fellow incumbent Thomas Conners and challenger Matthew Taylor. In the Islip Fire District, incumbent Fred Herrmann beat out challenger Carmine Paolicelli. In East Islip, residents chose Jerry Leigh over Matthew Marone as the new commissioner. He was elected to a five-year term.

Beginning Friday, May 22nd, the Farmers Market will take place every Friday from 3:00–7:00 PM, offering residents and visitors the opportunity to shop local, support small businesses, and enjoy the vibrant atmosphere that makes Bay Shore so special.
Presented by South Shore Farmers Market, this weekly gathering will feature a curated mix of local farmers, food artisans, and vendors, all set against the iconic backdrop of the Bay Shore Bandshell.
