Town Of Islip Honored During Recent LI Nets Basketball Game

This week's game took place during a "Town of Islip Night" to honor several local residents.

ISLIP, NY — There was a lot of Town of Islip pride during the recently LI Nets basketball game at NYCB LIVE Nassau Veterans Coliseum in Uniondale. The game on Wednesday between the LI Nets and the Fort Wayne Mad Ants was deemed the "Town of Islip Night" to honor several local residents. All town residents got the chance to score free tickets before the match.

LI Nets General Manager Matt Riccardi and team mascot Dale the Eagle welcomed Islip Town Supervisor Angie Carpenter and the evening's honorees to the game, which celebrated the Town and its residents.

Mascot Dale and LI Nets Team Hype joined with LI Ducks Minor League Baseball Team mascot QuackerJack in entertaining the audience. Guests got the chance to participate in a t-shirt toss, Islip Trivia and hip-hop dance.

Then QuackerJack and the QJ Foundation were named "Community Hero of the Game," along with Islip resident and Navy Veteran Carol Squatrito as "Veteran of the Game."

Carpenter spoke during halftime, congratulating the evening's honorees, which included 40 high school students from Youth Enrichment Services (YES). The students took part in-game along the high-five line, and were presented with an autographed basketball signed by the team.
