Town Of Islip Launches COVID-19 Business Relief Program

Small businesses can receive grants of up to $5,000 with no repayment required.

ISLIP, NY — The Town of Islip is launching a new program to financially help small business owners affected by the COVID-19 pandemic.

The Keep Islip Thriving, or KIT, grant program will assist local establishments and not-for-profits within Islip through grants to assist with the financial burdens brought on by the pandemic, officials announced on Tuesday.

Coordinated through the town's department of economic development, all eligible candidates who demonstrate a negative financial impact due to COVID-19 can receive upward of $5,000, with no repayment required.

“These past two years have affected many small businesses and charitable organizations within our town who are invaluable to our community," said Islip Town Supervisor Angie Carpenter. "Through this grant program, we hope to aid businesses as they navigate hardships faced through no fault of their own.”

Officials add that funding for the program is made possible through the American Rescue Plan Act.

“Islip businesses have long been the backbone of our community,” said Carpenter. “The town board and I remain committed to doing all we can to ensure their continued success for years to come."

Applications for the KIT grant can be submitted via email to islipcovidgrants@islipny.gov, or mailed to the Town of Islip Office of Economic Development, 40 Nassau Avenue, Islip, 11751.
