Islip Town officials advise travelers flying to or from MacArthur Airport to check with their carriers for flight updates. The airport has remained opened throughout the day.
Islip Town plowing crews are continuing snow removal operations throughout all hamlets. All Town recreational programs for Sunday, January 8 have been canceled due to the weather.

Islip Town Supervisor Angie Carpenter has announced that a State of Emergency has been declared in Islip as of Saturday night.

Residents are required to move their cars off of the road. Town crews have been plowing throughout the day to keep roads and intersections clear and safe for motorists.
These crews will continue to operate after snowfall has ceased as part of our snow removal operations.
The National Weather Service issued a winter storm warning which is in effect until midnight in Suffolk County, which will likely see a total 6-12 inches of snow, with the highest totals on the East End.
