Town Of Islip Officials Preparing For Expected Winter Storm
Crews are preparing for the predicted storm expected to hit the Long Island area this weekend.

TOWN OF ISLIP, NY - Town of Islip crews are prepping storm resources, including plows, salt and brine equipment, in anticipation of weekend's expected storm.

Officials say the department of public works (DPW) fleet mechanics are ensuring that all snow removal, as well as flood equipment is in working order, as meteorologists are calling for the potential for flooding from heavy rain.

Crews also began spreading brine on town roads Thursday.

"It might be an eventful 4-5 days," DPW Commissioner Tom Owens said. "Together with our counterparts in Public Safety, we will keep a watchful eye on the storm, making decisions accordingly to ensure that our roads are safe for the traveling public."

If the storm is severe, residents are advised to stay indoors and drive only if it is essential.
In addition, residents are asked to park cars in the driveway to allow for optimum plowing of neighborhood streets.
