What streets do you think has the worst potholes?

TOWN OF ISLIP, NY - Town of Islip officials have begun to address potholes concerns in the area.

Councilman John C. Cochrane, Jr. recently met with Town Department of Public Work crews along Islip’s Commack Road as ongoing efforts to work on potholes.

The crews were taking advantage of the unseasonably warm weather last week to remedy poor road conditions and potential problem areas before the winter cold could cause further damage.

By remedying compromised areas today, we can limit the damage tomorrow. That means greater road safety for our residents."

There are over 1,800 miles of roadway in the Town of Islip.

Conditions permitting, crews will remain on the streets throughout the winter and beyond, working to identify and address the areas most in need of repairs first.

"Safe roads ensure the safety of our traveling public, children, seniors, school buses, and our Emergency service vehicles and first responders," Town Supervisor Angie Carpenter said. "It’s a vital cause, and residents should know we take road repair very seriously."

Residents are encouraged to call (631) 224-5600 to report a pothole on a Town road. For state and other roads, residents should call New York State at 1-800-POTHOLE.
