Vehicle Bursts Into Flames On Southern State Parkway In Islip: FD

ISLIP, NY — The occupants of a vehicle escaped unharmed after it caught fire on the Southern State Parkway in Islip late Sunday night, fire officials said.

The Islip Fire Department was dispatched shortly after 11 p.m. to the eastbound Southern State Parkway, just before the ramp to southbound Islip Avenue, for a report of a vehicle fire.

Crews arrived to find the vehicle involved in flames, with all occupants safely out of the vehicle and uninjured, according to the department.

Firefighters extinguished the blaze without incident, officials said.

The scene was then turned over to New York State Police.
