Woman Charged For Keeping Dog Outside During Heat Wave: SPCA
A woman was warned to bring her dog inside during the heat advisory issued this week, according to the SPCA.
ISLIP, NY β An Islip woman was charged with a misdemeanor after authorities said she kept her dog outside during a heat wave this week, according to Suffolk County Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals Chief Roy Gross.
Gross said an officer responded to an Elm Street home and found the gray and white mixed-breed dog in a penned area in the yard. The officer warned 25-year-old Jakiemia Bayer about keeping the dog outside during the extreme temperatures and she brought the dog inside, according to Gross.
Later that same day, a second SPCA officer responded to the home and Bayer told the officer that she put the dog back outside after the first SPCA officer left, Gross said. A heat advisory issued by the National Weather Service was in effect during the time the dog was outside.
