Jamaica Fire Ruled Double Homicide, Police Say

The Dec. 23 fire in a second-floor apartment on 150th Street left two men dead, police say.

JAMAICA, NY — A fire that killed two men in Jamaica last month has been ruled a double homicide, police said Thursday. But no one has been arrested in connection with the Dec. 23 blaze in a second-floor apartment at 95-32 150th St., the NYPD said.

John Wigfall, 86, and David Hawkins, 64, were both pronounced dead at Jamaica Hospital after firefighters found them unconscious in the apartment that afternoon, police said.

The FDNY said fire marshals determined the cause of the blaze was "incendiary," meaning it was lit intentionally. Police say the fire is still under investigation.
