Rethink Food Distributes Food Donations from Target's SoHo Store to Help Feed New Yorkers
Retailer donates an estimated $75,000 worth of grocery products to local nonprofit

Local, chef-led nonprofit Rethink Food and Target are partnering to help provide New Yorkers experiencing food insecurity with nutritious meals while reducing food waste.
As Target renovates its SoHo location, the retailer is also investing in the New York City community. Earlier this month, Target donated an estimated $75,000 worth of grocery products from its SoHo store to Rethink Food. Part of the SoHo store's lower-level renovation plans, Target donated grocery products to Rethink Food to help reduce unnecessary food waste and expand access to nutritious food.
In the first week following the donation, Rethink Food prepared and distributed 800 meals and provided 500 non-food products to its community members. The nonprofit is using the donated food to prepare hot, nutritious meals at its Sustainable Community Kitchen and is distributing additional grocery and household items through community-based organizations in the five boroughs.

Founded in 2017, the New York City-based nonprofit partners with restaurants, food businesses, and community-based organizations to provide nutritious meals to communities experiencing food insecurity while supporting local food businesses.
"Rethink Food is excited to partner with Target and grateful for their commitment to feeding our neighbors,” said Cole Riley, VP of Partnerships, Rethink Food. “We'll continue to cook hot, nutritious meals in our Sustainable Community Kitchen and share the rest with our community-based organization partners for direct distribution. Every meal that comes out of this partnership is proof that no good food has to go to waste, and no neighbor has to go without."
