Man Tried To Light Car On Fire, Threatened To Kill Officers: NCPD
Police say the man was harassing a woman and trying to break into her home, and was trying to light her car on fire when officers arrived.
Nassau Police arrested a man they say was found trying to light a person's car on fire in Inwood early Thursday morning.
According to police, officers responded to a call to a home on Bayview Avenue at 3:15 a.m. for a disturbance. Police say the officers saw William Witcher, 37, of Redfern Avenue, Far Rockaway, standing next to a car.
After investigating, police say it was determined that Witcher tried to force his way into a woman's home. After failing to get in, police say he tore off a piece of his shirt, lit it on fire with a lighter and then stuck it into the gas cap of the woman's car.
