South Jamaica Driver Dies After Rear-Ending Parked Car: NYPD

A 60-year-old man died after hitting a parked van in South Jamaica, triggering a chain reaction of four more cars rear-ending each other.

SOUTH JAMAICA, QUEENS — A 60-year-old man died after rear-ending a parked car in South Jamaica on Sunday morning, police said.

Springfield Gardens resident Freddie Sneed was driving a 2011 Toyota Avalon north on Lakeview Boulevard just after 7 a.m. on May 26 when he crashed into a parked van by 118th Road, according to police.

The crash triggered a chain reaction of four additional parked cars rear-ending each other. No one was in any of the cars at the time, police said.

First responders found Sneed unconscious and rushed him to Jamaica Hospital Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead.

The NYPD's Collision Investigation Squad is investigating.
