10 Arrested at Overnight Sobriety Checkpoint

One man had his 7-month-old daughter in his car, police say.

Ten people were arrested at a overnight sobriety checkpoint in Huntington Station, including a Huntington man who
was driving with his 7-month-old daughter in his car, police said.

The checkpoint conducted by officers from the Suffolk County Highway Patrol Bureau was held on Route 110 at Church Street between 11:08 p.m. Friday until 3 a.m. Saturday. A total of 625 vehicles went through the checkpoint.

One of the drivers arrested, Marvin Whitfield, 36, is charged with felony aggravated DWI after he was stopped for traffic violations with his infant daughter in his vehicle, police said. He is also charged with endangering the welfare of a child.

  • Andrea Ronquillo, 25, of Huntington
  • [Name Withheld], 36, of Dix Hills
  • Avinav Gambhir, 24, of Dix Hills

All of those arrested will be arraigned at First District Court in Central Islip on Saturday.
