Bicyclist Fatally Struck by Car in Brentwood
The 22-year-old rode his bike in front of an SUV driven by a Kings Park woman, police say.

A 22-year-old Brentwood man riding a bicycle was struck and killed by an SUV Wednesday morning, police said.
Accoding to police, Amilcar Mejia Alvarado was riding his bike south on Washington Avenue when he rode in front of and was struck by a 2002 Ford Escape that was traveling east on Express Drive South at 7:45 a.m.
Alvarado was airlifted to Stony Brook University Hospital where he was pronounced dead. The driver of the Escape, a 36-year-old Kings Park woman, was not injured.

The vehicle was impounded for a safety check and the investigation is continuing. Detectives are asking anyone with information on this crash to call the Third Squad at 631-854-8352.
