Boys Soccer Runs over Rocky Point 10-0
Kings Park struck early and often in defeated league V rival Rocky Point 10-0 at home on Wednesday afternoon.
Kings Park’s Ryan Finnin deposited a loose ball into the Rocky Point goal just 1:34 into the game and the Kingsmen added nine more goals before it was all said and done to defeat the Eagles 10-0 in league V action Wednesday afternoon.
“It wasn’t our day today,” Rocky Point head coach Joe Camarda said. “We started off flat and just didn’t come back when we needed to. A lot of guys put their heads down and we were missing a key player in the back so I think our guys were disappointed in that. But we’re just going to forget this game ever happened and learn from it, that’s all.”
There isn’t much else the Eagles can do after a game in which they trailed 4-0 at the half and 7-0 with 27:07 remaining. Newly named captain Andrew Mayrick’s goal with 27:07 remaining capped a barrage that saw Kings Park score three goals in five minutes to push the lead out to insurmountable levels.

It seemed the early goal put everything in motion for Kings Park and deflated the Rocky Point side.
“One of the things that we’re working on now is our composure and our focus so getting out early definitely helps keeping us in that positive state of mind,” Kings Park coach Bill Hender said. “We want to come out and play strong in the first minute and today we took advantage of that scoring really early.”

Peter Sicardi played solid in goal for Kings Park in the shutout, stopping numerous Rocky Point chances in the second half.
“I feel like we played well, we balanced the ball well, we moved it and the things we’ve been working on in practice we did well today,” Hender said. “That’s a measuring stick for us – can we take the things that we work on in practice and implement them in games? We did that well today.”
Rocky Point will look to get back on the winning track when it faces off against Shoreham-Wading River on September 24. Kings Park is back in action when it visits Harborfields on September 23.
