Cell Service Upgrade for Some in San Remo Area

Cell service in the San Remo area is typically a bit sketchy, but may soon improve, at least for some residents.

Team Mobile, which already has cell panels located on the roof of CVS Pharmacy on Main Street in Kings Park, was recently given the go ahead by the Smithtown Town Board to install new cell panels.

According to Eddy Peyton, site manager for Team Mobile, there will be a coverage upgrade to the LTE 4G network.

“There will be a better signal for people that have 4G capability. They will receive faster service and we browsing.”

Pete Hans, senior planner for the town of  Smithtown said the panels will be placed on the roof and portions will be built up to look like a chimney.

“It is low lying and won’t extend much beyond the roof,” said Hans.
