Expanded Summer Concert Series Returns to Smith Haven Mall

Stage is set for 12 weeks of live performances starting on July 7

The long hot days of summer will have a cool ending each week at Smith Haven Mall’s Summer Concert Series. The annual seasonal tradition returns to the property’s Lifestyle Village for the fifth year starting on Thursday, July 7 at 7 p.m., offering free live performances by some of Long Island’s most renowned tribute bands for 12 weeks.

“Smith Haven Mall’s Summer Concert Series has developed a loyal following over the years so we are thrilled to continue our favorite seasonal tradition of bringing free live entertainment once again in 2016,” commented Ann M. Schultz, director of mall marketing and business development for Smith Haven Mall. “We’ve secured a wide range of music that speaks to nearly every generation, mixing some past favorite bands with new acts, and expanded the concert series by two weeks. Long Islanders are welcome to spend their Thursday nights with us to enjoy dynamic live music and complimentary nibbles in a relaxing outdoor environment.”

The Summer Concert Series at Smith Haven Mall is free entertainment, open to the public and takes place in the mall’s Lifestyle Village. Guests are encouraged to arrive early and take in a vendor showcase prior to each concert from 4:30 to 7 p.m. Summer Concert Series performers will rock the stage at a new starting time of 7 to 8:30 p.m.

On July 7, guests can enjoy the sounds of Billboard Live. Mixing together some of the best players on Long Island with a love of great 70s rock music, Billboard Live is a band with a goal of taking fans on a nostalgia trip to the greatest moments of the decade. The group plays killer rock hits from Rod Stewart, Rolling Stones, Wings, The Beatles, The Guess Who, Elton John and more.

Smith Haven Mall’s Summer Concert Series will feature the following performance schedule for the remaining dates:

  • July 14 – Any Way You Want It: Playing the classic hits of Journey, this four member band from Long Island has been captivating audiences for the past seven years with the sound and energy of a live Journey concert.

· July 21 – King Kai: Jimmy Caiazzo, also known as King Kai, takes on the role of Elvis Presley in this tribute, emulating his likeness and style, performing the King’s catalog of hits.

· July 28 – Streetfighter: One of the premier tribute bands of The Rolling Stones, Streetfighter has been entertaining crowds with an act that captures the music, spirit and look of the world’s greatest rock band.

· August 4 – Beyond Fab: A four person band that offers an energized musical performance of The Beatles catalog and beyond.

· August 11 – Mad Co: A celebration of all the best hits from Bad Company, one of the most acclaimed bands of the classic rock era.

· August 18 – Bottom’s Up: This Van Halen tribute band recreates the note-for-note feel and energy that the classic rock group was known for.

· August 25 – Badlands: Six outstanding veterans of the NY music scene who faithfully deliver the music of Bruce Springsteen & The E Street Band, capturing the sound without pretense or mimicry.

· September 1 – Desert Highway: A tribute to The Eagles, Desert Highway takes audiences on a non-stop journey highlighting inspired vocal harmonies and intricate guitar styles made famous by the legendary group.

· September 8 – Songs in the Attic: A musical tribute conceived and presented by Long Island veteran singer/piano player David Clark, Songs In The Attic was formed in 2011 and since that time has gained an impressive following on Long Island.

· September 15 – Bad Medicine: A Long Island-based tribute band to Bon Jovi, this five member ensemble is composed of top tier musicians that have been rocking Bon Jovi fans around the world since 2000.

· September 22 – Macca Nation: New York based performers; Macca Nation presents a tribute to the music of Paul McCartney & Wings.

To make it a great experience, the following Insider Tips will help concert goers during visits:

1. Event attendees are encouraged to bring their own lawn chairs, as seating is limited.

2. On event days, the best parking can be found near Dick’s Sporting Goods and/or The Cheesecake Factory.

3. Before or after the concerts, enjoy a delicious meal at one of the many restaurant options at Smith Haven Mall including P.F. Chang’s China Bistro, The Cheesecake Factory, California Pizza Kitchen, Bahama Breeze, Bonefish Grill, Bobby’s Burger Palace, Le Vin and T.G.I. FRIDAY’S.

4. Dinner or light bites and cocktails can be enjoyed al fresco during the concerts at both The Cheesecake Factory and California Pizza Kitchen, located in the Lifestyle Village.

Event attendees can take advantage of an array of special food sampling by the mall’s restaurants and eateries, which will vary each week. In addition, select retailers will be on-hand with product demonstrations during the concert events. As a reminder, no outside food or drinks are allowed at the concerts.
