Firefighters Battle Blaze at Old Power Plant Building

The fire broke out on Sunday afternoon.

KINGS PARK, NY - Firefighters battled a blaze that broke out at the old power plant building in Kings Park on Sunday afternoon.

The Kings Park Fire Department received a report of a commercial building on fire at the State Property by Old Dock Road at about 1:30 p.m.

The 911 call came from a person driving by that saw a building on fire.

First arriving firefighters discovered fire in the old power plant building and requested mutual aid from The Smithtown Fire Department.

Due to the unsafe conditions inside the building, firefighters started an exterior attack. The blaze was then quickly brought under control.

The fire remains under investigation by the Suffolk County Arson Squad.
