Free Film "Curse of the Golden Flower ", September 24, Wednesday, Wang Center Theater - Confucius Institute at Stony Brook University

Join us for the film “Curse of the Golden Flower “. Based on Cao Yu’s 1934 play Thunderstorm but set in the Imperial court in ancient China, this is a lavish, period spectacle from one of Asia’s most important living filmmakers, Yimou Zhang. Golden Flower portrays the imperial Chinese family rapidly losing internal strength due to a power struggle between the emperor (Chow Yun-Fat), the empress (Gong Li), and the couple’s three sons. A truly dazzling costume epic and a visually thrilling entertainment.
