The Gift of Failure: Fostering Intrinsic Motivation and Resilience in Kids
New York Times columnist Jessica Lahey will speak at East Woods on Thursday, November 13th at 7pm. Free of charge and open to the public.

What’s the best way to motivate students to own their education and develop grit and resilience?
Please join us at East Woods School, 31 Yellow Cote Road, Oyster Bay on Thursday, November 13th at 7pm as Jessica Lahey, New York Times columnist and The Atlantic contributor joins us for a special speaking engagement.
Research has shown that the key to all these things is intrinsic motivation, or motivation that comes from within. Jessica Lahey summarizes the current research on autonomy-supportive parenting and teaching, competence, rewards, praise, and failure. Finally, she explains how parents and educators can give students the support and encouragement they need in order to stay motivated over the long term.
