Increase In Crimes Reported In Kings Park

Kings Park has recently seen an increase in crime over the past few weeks.

Since May 18, there have been 11 reports of petty theft, two reports of assault, one report of burglary and one report of vandalism.

According to Suffolk Police, in 2016 between May 15 and June 1 there were 0 incidents of thefts reported compared to 8 reported this year.

It is unknown why there has been an increase in reported crimes.

One local resident, Eric Clemente, reported that his car was broken into back in May. According to the police, in that incident someone broke into and stole items from the car parked on 6th Avenue.

A second resident reached out to Patch and in an email stated that she has noticed multiple car break-ins and a few attempted house break-ins that have happened in Kings Park over the past few weeks.

The resident stated that there have been multiple incidences reported in the 5th Avenue area and Charter Oaks.

According to the police database, the crimes have been reported in several areas including: Cortez Lane, Pulaski Road, Hilden Street, Harbor Oaks Drive, Old Dock Road, Johnson Avenue N., Indian Head Road, Avenue B and Lou Avenue.
