Movies Under The Stars Returns to Smith Haven Mall

Back by popular demand, the silver screen will return to Smith Haven Mall for Movies Under the Stars on select Mondays during the month of August.

The Lifestyle Village will be transformed into an open air cinema, with a weekly screening of family-friendly Disney films for a four-week engagement every Monday from August 1 through August 22.

Presented by The Suffolk Center for Speech, Movies Under the Stars at Smith Haven Mall is free and kicks off with a vendor showcase and DJ entertainment at 5 p.m. followed by the feature presentation at dusk (approximately 8 p.m.). For the comfort of attending guests, lawn chairs and blankets are recommended as seating in the Lifestyle Village is limited.

And, guests who register for Simon Rewards, Smith Haven Mall’s shopping incentive program, during each event are eligible to win a movie-themed gift that week. On August 1, shoppers that sign up for the program can take home a Star Wars themed gift (must be present to win; while supplies last.)

During the vendor showcase, guests can visit a variety of family-friendly participating exhibitors including Precious Lambs, Inc. Early Childhood & Child Care Center and Silverleaf Resorts. Families can enjoy activities such as free child ID kits at New York Life; a “Vegetable” Ring Toss Game hosted by Juice Plus+/Tower Garden; creating colorful macaroni necklaces with Macaroni Kid; planting spinach seeds at Green Audit USA; and math puzzles to enjoy courtesy of Mathnasium. There will also be complimentary face painting offered by Face Painting by Tara and Dina’s Dynamics. And, each week visitors can take home goody bags filled with special offers and a sample of Enfagrow milk boxes.

The August movie night schedule includes:

• August 1 – Star Wars: The Force Awakens: When a new evil emerges, an interstellar battle between light and dark ensues, with new heroes and villains joined by unforgettable characters from the original Star Wars saga
• August 8 – Zootopia: In a city inhabited by animals, a rookie police officer rabbit tries to solve a mysterious missing persons case
• August 15 – Finding Nemo: When his son finds his way into a dentist’s fish tank, a clownfish embarks on an epic rescue mission
• August 22 – Inside Out: Inside the mind of an 11-year-old girl, five emotions attempt to navigate her through life as her family moves from Minnesota to San Francisco
