Save Fresh Pond, Save our Community, Oppose Variance 17178

Board of Zoning Appeals meeting on Tuesday, February 24 7:00 pm at the Senior Citizen Center, 420 Middle Country Road, Smithtown

Zoning ordinances are important in order to maintain property values and protect a neighborhood’s quality and environment.

An effort is underway to overdevelop our community. The applicant seeks to obtain 11 variances to subdivide a property that includes sensitive wetlands along Fresh Pond. Such wavers would open the door to the building of three oversized homes that would violate multiple zoning and environmental regulations. This property also contains a historical house that should be saved.

Building on this scale will forever change the nature of our Community. The environmental restrictions are there for a reason!
