Schumer Endorses Gaughran for Suffolk Comptroller
Senator Says "Gaughran will fight for middle-class families and values"

Today, Senator Charles Schumer endorsed Jim Gaughran for Suffolk County Comptroller. Senator Schumer applauded Jim’s commitment to protecting the middle class by rooting out waste, fraud and abuse in government.
“Jim Gaughran has an impressive record of fighting for middle-class families and values. And as Comptroller he’ll do the same thing because Jim knows that every single tax dollar he saves stops a greater burden from being placed on middle-class families,” said Senator Schumer. “As Comptroller, Jim Gaughran will protect middle class families by rooting out waste, fraud and abuse in Suffolk County.”
As comptroller, Jim Gaughran will refuse a taxpayer-funded car and cell phone, contribute towards his healthcare and freeze his salary. Jim Gaughran will also establish a waste-and-fraud division to protect tax dollars.

“It’s an honor to be endorsed by Senator Schumer,” said Gaughran. “He’s spent his career in the United States Senate fighting for the middle class, and I am honored that he sees those same values and principles in me. That’s why as Comptroller, I will fight to protect every tax dollar, because every tax dollar matters.”
Newsday, as well as New York State Comptroller Thomas DiNapoli recently endorsed Jim Gaughran, citing his ambitious plan to protect Suffolk taxpayers.
