Spotlight: American Kennel Club Canine Experience Event

A day long event for owners, dogs and dog lovers of all ages.

On July 31, The Suffolk County Kennel Club will hold an American Kennel Club Canine Experience Event starting at 9:00 a.m. at .

An AKC Canine Experience is a multi-club, multi-sport event that introduces and welcomes owners of newly AKC-registered puppies and potential owners to the sport of dogs.

There will be educational programs and demonstrations in handling, grooming, AKC dog show procedures, agility, obedience, and more.

Specialty breed judging and obedience demos and a hands-on workshop will start at 9:00 a.m. Following at 10:00 a.m. there will be agility demos and run-throughs, as well as Canine Good Citizen Testing. Handling demos and a hands-on workshop are scheduled for 11:00 a.m.

All these events will culminate in an AKC All-Breed Sanctioned B Match, beginning at 12:30 p.m.

Judging will take place in the following categories: Non-Sporting, Terrier, Toy, Hound, Sporting, Herding, Working, and Miscellaneous & Foundation Stock Services (FSS).

Best Puppy in Match and Best Adult in Match will immediately follow. 

So bring your whole family, including your dog (at least three months of age with current vaccinations), folding chairs, a picnic lunch, and enjoy a fun filled dog day of summer.

Time:      Starting 9:00 a.m. (rain or shine)

Where:   St Johnland Nursing Center, 395 Sunken Meadow Road, Kings Park

Price:      Admission is free – Donations accepted

Why:   To enjoy a fun filled dog day of summer, with your dog!

Note:  Dogs must be leashed at all times, don’t forget water bowls, all trash must be removed when you leave and please clean up after your dog.
