SUV Crashes Through Kings Park Bakery

Police say it appears at least one person suffered a minor injury in crash early Sunday.

As Lucy Shtanko followed an ambulance carrying her husband to the hospital early Sunday morning, a Suffolk County Police officer called Shtanko and told her a car had just crashed through her Kings Park bakery.

“I thought they were kidding,” Shtanko said of that phone call.

But then she got to Park Bake Shop.

“I couldn’t believe what I saw,” she said.

Shtanko co-owns the bakery with her husband, Gabe, who was released from the hospital Sunday after a health scare.

Police say a 911 came in at 3:50 a.m. Sunday reporting a car into the store located at 112 Main Street at the corner of Old Dock Road. Lucy Shtanko said she’s been told there were four “young boys” inside the Kia Borrego and police told Patch “it appears there was at least one minor injury.”

Police, however, have not released any other details on the crash as of Monday afternoon. A police spokesperson told Patch the report on the crash has not yet been entered.

Shtanko said the damage to the inside of the bakery was “tremendous,” but the shop was back up and running Monday.

Shtanko said was glad no one was seriously hurt in the crash.

“Everything else can be fixed,” she said.
