Third Annual Global Youth Service Day Recognizes Student Community Service

Local students who are active in community service can apply to receive an award for their actions.

The Smithtown Youth Bureau and Youth Advisory Board are now accepting applications for students to receive awards for community service at their third annual Global Youth Service Day.

“I am excitied for our agency to once again recognize the work of the youth in our town,” said Patsy Hirschhorn, Executive Director of the Smithtown Youth Bureau. “Their passion for helping others deserves to be celebrated,” she said.

Global Youth Service Day is a campaign by Youth Service America. It is a worldwide event of activism that empowers youth to speak up and take action in the world.

The deadline for the applications is Thursday, April 12. Any young person from the Town of Smithtown who has completed a project should contact the Youth Bureau for an application or download it from the website.
