Varsity Scoreboard: Hockey Hanging Strong in Second Place, Wrestling Could Take it All

A look at scoring in varsity games in Kings Park from Jan. 15 to Jan. 21.

Varsity Hockey: The Kings Park/Commack hockey team rebounded from the Jan. 15.  5-2 loss at the hands of the Washingtonville of the Hudson Valley league to go on to a solid  8-5 win against Northport/Huntiington on Jan. 17. The win keeps the team in second place with just two regular season games remaining, including a showdown with third place Connetquot/Sayville on Jan. 26 at 9pm.

Varsity Boys Basketball: The Kingsmen bounced back from a crushing double-overtime loss at home to Islip on Jan. 19 with a strong 44-35 victory over Eastport-South Manor on Jan. 20. Once again, Nick Borkowski led all Kings Park scorers in both contests, each time chipping in with 22 points.

Varsity Girls Basketball: The Lady Kingsmen picked up a pair of victories this week, improving to 10-3 overall and just one game behind first place Harborfields. They picked up a pair of double-digit victories over Islip and Eastport-South Manor. Marion Kawecki and Meghan Eckel continue their dominant play.

Varsity Wrestling: The Kings Park wrestling team manhandled winless Deer Park 59-15 on Jan. 19. The Kingsmen improved to 3-0 in League V, tied with Hauppauge atop the standings.
