Varsity Scoreboard: Guercio's Near No-No Lifts KP Baseball

Baseball: The Kingsmen won a non-league contest in their only game this week, a 4-0 victory over Ward Melville. Starting pitcher Joe Guercio flirted with a no-hitter, holding the Patriots hitless into the seventh inning before surrendering a single with one out. Matt Capobianco added a pair of doubles and an RBI.

Softball:  After establishing dominance over John Glenn on Monday, , Lindsay Taylor and the Kings Park softball team were at it again on Thursday. The Lady Kingsmen avenged a 15-run loss to Deer Park to start the season with a decisive 5-0 victory. The win gave them sole possession of first place in League V as they improved to 12-1. Taylor was brilliant again in the matchup of the league's top two teams, striking out 15, allowing just two hits and two walks.

Boys Lacrosse: The Kingsmen lost a pair of games this week. First, they dropped a heartbreaker at Glenn on Saturday, 13-12 in overtime, only to be beaten 15-2 by Shoreham-Wading River on Tuesday. The pair of losses leaves them with a 4-6 record in League II, with any playoff hopes seeming dim.

Girls Lacrosse: Kings Park's girls lacrosse team traded a pair of blowout decisions this week, first falling 21-4 to Rocky Point on Monday before bouncing back for a 16-6 win over Mattituck on Thursday. Natalie Silvers had eight goals in the two games, and has a team-leading 29 this season. They, like the boys lacrosse team, will have a hard time making the postseason, as they now sit at 4-7 in League II.
