11th Annual Sound Shore St. Patrick's Day Parade Has A Green Light
The Village of Mamaroneck has some important community announcements about what to know in advance of the event.
VILLAGE OF MAMARONECK, NY — Everyone knows that the Sound Shore St. Patrick's Day Parade is a good time, but there are a few things we can do to help make sure it's once again a safe and successful celebration.
The 11th Annual Sound Shore St. Patrick's Day Parade will be taking place in the Village of Mamaroneck in just two weeks, and the village put together some important information for the public to know about in advance.
The village says that the community event that is organized and sponsored by the Sound Shore St. Patrick’s Day Committee is something residents, businesses and visitors are eagerly anticipating.

The Sound Shore St. Patrick’s Day Parade is scheduled to kick off on Mamaroneck Avenue by the Mamaroneck Avenue School at 1:30 p.m. on Sunday, March 19. In case of rain or inclement weather on March 19, then Sunday, March 26 will be the rain date.

When the parking lot at Harbor Island Park reaches capacity on the day of the parade, the Parks and Recreation Department will close the parking lot, and vehicles will need to find legal parking on neighboring streets. Drivers are warned to avoid parking in any privately owned lots as vehicles may be booted or towed.
The Marine Education Center will be closed on the day of the parade.
To prepare for the Sound Shore St. Patrick’s Day Parade, the Harbor Master will close the launching ramp to the East Basin, which is located between the park's entrance and the Marine Education Center, from Saturday, March 18, at 9 p.m. - Sunday, March 19, at 9 p.m.
On March 19, the village’s police department will begin shutting down Mamaroneck Avenue to vehicle traffic at noon. All streets with egress to Mamaroneck Avenue will be closed (except for residents/business patrons). This includes:
- Gertrude Ave. from Ralph Ave. to Mamaroneck Ave.
- New St. from Ralph Ave. to Mamaroneck Ave.
- Grand St. from Madison St. to Mamaroneck Ave.
- Old White Plains Rd. at Mamaroneck Ave.
- Waverly Ave. from Plaza Ave. to Mamaroneck Ave.
- Hoyt Ave. from Fenimore Rd. to Mamaroneck Ave.
- Westbound Station Plaza
- Mt. Pleasant Ave. from Stanley Ave. to Mamaroneck Ave.
- Palmer Ave. from Mt. Pleasant Ave. to Mamaroneck Ave.
- Prospect Ave. from Mt. Pleasant Ave. to Mamaroneck Ave.
- Library La. from Johnson Ave. to Prospect Ave.
- Nostrand Ave. from Lester Ave. to Mamaroneck Ave.
- Jefferson Ave. Ext. at Mamaroneck Ave.
- Van Ranst Pl. at Mamaroneck Ave.
- Halstead Ave. from Ward Ave. to Mamaroneck Ave.
- Spencer Pl. from Philips Park Rd. to Mamaroneck Ave.
- East Prospect Ave. from Tompkins Ave. to Mamaroneck Ave.
Mamaroneck Avenue will be closed from North Barry Avenue to Boston Post Road until the end of the parade, which will be around 4 p.m.
Driving in and around the village and parking will be difficult. The Village of Mamaroneck Police Department will be on hand to provide a safe experience for all.
Drivers are asked to be mindful when parking in front of neighbors' homes. Residents who have guests visiting for the parade should remind them to avoid blocking fire hydrants, driveways or walkways.
