After a noticeable increase in the number of robberies in Larchmont and Mamaroneck in August alone, the Town of Mamaroneck Police Department announced today that suspects have been arrested in connection to the two robberies that took place in the town last month.
At 10:48 p.m. yesterday, police stopped a vehicle at Kenmare Road and Harmony Drive and arrested five adults and one juvenile, all from New York City, according to Lt. Robert Koziak. In the first incident, the 17-year-old victim told police that he was in front of a Nancy Lane home at approximately 11:50 p.m. when two males approached him from behind, held him and removed one iPod and one cell phone, each valued at $300, from his pants pockets. According to Patch records, these two robberies were the first in the town since a man robbed a woman at gunpoint on West Garden Road in January. In the Village of Mamaroneck, blotters show that police investigated two robberies in August, one in July, and none for the rest of the year.
In the first of the August incidents, four men who had allegedly robbed another man at knifepoint in the area of Mamaroneck and Halstead avenues on Aug. 22 were arrested. In the other, an 18-year-old male told police he was confronted by several male parties while walking on Palmer Avenue and Fenimore Road at approximately 11:53 p.m. on Aug. 29. Personal property was taken, and the victim was transported to Sound Shore Medical Center for minor injuries, police said.
This last incident and those that took place in the town on Aug. 29 and 31 are related, according to Lt. Steven Gerardi, of the Village of Mamaroneck Police Department Investigations Division. "The Village of Mamaroneck Police will be filing charges in connection with the Town PD arrests," he wrote in an email today.
On Aug. 5, Village of Larchmont police reported an unsuccessful armed robbery attempt which resulted in no arrests. In April, an Addison Street man was arrested after he entered a Chatsworth Avenue establishment, displayed what appeared to be a rifle and demanded money. He was charged with second-degree Robbery and remanded to the Westchester County Jail.
On a related note, two individuals were arrested on Aug. 27 by Village of Mamaroneck police in connection to a larceny. One of them attempted to assault two police officers and fled, but was later stopped while traveling on I-95, police said. Both were charged with felonies and remanded to the Westchester County Jail.
