'All Is Well At The Cellar,' Early Morning Fire Outside Iconic Watering Hole Contained

Larchmont firefighters responded around 6:33 a.m. on Tuesday, and reported no injuries after containing damage near 8 Railroad Way.

LARCHMONT, NY — There was reason to be worried, but your favorite place to grab a drink is unscathed.

"We are grateful for all the messages and calls — all is well at the Cellar Bar — the fire was upstairs in the alley," the iconic Larchmont watering hole said in a message to its regulars.

The Larchmont Fire Department said it was dispatched at 6:33 a.m. to a reported structure fire in the area of 8 Railroad Way, in Larchmont.

Engine 35 and Tower Ladder 7 arrived in about three minutes and found smoke and fire coming from the alley between 8 Railroad Way and 1891 Palmer Avenue, according to the department.

Firefighters made sure all occupants were out of the structure, then extinguished visible fire and checked for extension into surrounding buildings.

According to the department, fire damage was contained to exterior items in the alley and the rear interior of the Cosy Nail & Spa, located at 1891 Palmer Ave. Water and smoke damage affected the lower portion of the building at 8 Railroad Way. The department reported that all units were cleared from the scene by 8:45 a.m.

The Tuesday morning fire was listed as accidental, from an exterior HVAC unit, and caused no reported injuries, according to the Larchmont Fire Department.

The Larchmont Fire Department was assisted by the Larchmont Police Department, the Rye Fire Department, the New Rochelle Fire Department, the Pelham Manor Fire Department, the Town of Mamaroneck Fire Department, the Greenville Fire Department, the Eastchester Fire Department, Larchmont/Mamaroneck VAC, the Westchester County Cause & Origin Team, Con Edison Gas, Con Edison Electric, and Westchester County Department of Emergency Services 60-Control, according to the department.

The department also identified the mutual aid partners as Rye Professional Firefighters Local 2029, the New Rochelle Fire Department, the Pelham Manor Fire Department, the Westchester County Department of Emergency Services 60-Control, Larchmont VAC, theTown of Mamaroneck Fire Department, the Eastchester Fire Department, the Greenville Fire District, and the Larchmont PBA.
