MAMARONECK, NY — The Sound Shore's biggest red carpet event of the year has announced a special honoree for the October festivities.
LMC Media has unveiled plans for its 2026 Annual Gala, set for the evening of Thursday, Oct. 1, at Mamaroneck Cinemas in Mamaroneck, with a reception to follow. The nonprofit media organization said this year's event will honor Jules A. Del Vecchio for what it described as his commitment to community storytelling.
The gala comes as the organization strives to serve the Sound Shore through local journalism and public access programming. The group said the event is intended as both a celebration of its work and a way to support its future, as media organizations face economic pressure.
"At a time when local media is facing unprecedented economic challenges, the need for trusted, community centered journalism and storytelling has never been greater," LMC Executive Director Matt Sullivan said. "LMC Media serves as a vital lifeline for residents, civic organizations, educators, students, nonprofits, and local businesses by providing factual, balanced information and a platform for free expression. In many ways, organizations like ours are among the last truly accessible public forums dedicated to informing, connecting, and empowering communities. The support of our donors is not simply appreciated, it is essential to ensuring that local voices continue to be heard and that community media remains strong for future generations."
LMC Media said Del Vecchio's connection to the Sound Shore area dates back to 1948. He graduated from Mamaroneck High School in 1961, later earned degrees in Psychology and Sociology from Parsons College, and completed Master's coursework at Hunter and Lehman Colleges for teaching credentials.
Del Vecchio began his career in the New York City public school system, teaching in Harlem and the Bronx. LMC Media said he later moved into the corporate broadcast and financial sectors and started a 40-year career with New York Life Insurance Company in 1970. From 1988 to 1995, the organization said, he anchored the company's live national satellite television network from Studio 51, New York Life's in-house broadcast studio.
LMC Media described Del Vecchio as a donor and advocate who sees the organization as a civic anchor for the Sound Shore. The nonprofit, formerly called Larchmont-Mamaroneck Community Television, serves the Town and Village of Mamaroneck and Larchmont through public, education and government cable access channels, online streaming, municipal meeting coverage and community production resources.
The gala will be held at Mamaroneck Cinemas, 243 Mamaroneck Ave., Mamaroneck. Details about the event, tickets, and sponsorship packages are available here.
