Area Boys H.S. Basketball Teams Ready For Playoffs
Mamaroneck H.S. & Rye Neck H.S. earn high seeds as playoffs begin
If you like high school basketball, this is your time of year. For fans from the town of Mamaroneck, having two strong teams in home playoff games on back-to-back days is a dream come true.
Every single Section 1 high school basketball team across Westchester, Putnam and Rockland counties sets goals each season. And among those goals, undoubtedly, is to play in the County Center. The Westchester County Center in White Plains has long been the site of the Final Four of the Section 1 playoffs for each level of play. After a hiatus due to COVID, the County Center is back as the venue for 2023 for these important games.
Of the massive number of teams hoping to make the journey to White Plains to play in that special setting, only so many have a realistic shot of playing there.

Put the boys high school teams of Mamaroneck and Rye Neck on the small list of teams who can make it. And with home games this week, we expect the entire community to pack the gyms to see these teams in action.
Playing in the large school Class AA division, Mamaroneck H.S. earned the #3 seed after a very impressive regular season. They battled the toughest foes, including multiple matchups in their own league, to emerge as a serious contender for the crown. Coach Carver's team is a mix of experienced senior play powered by PG Aidan Roy & PF Ethan Glassman, and skilled underclassmen, with the full crew going all out with high energy play.

For Class B Rye Neck, they captured the #4 seed after a 14-6 regular season. High-scoring forward RJ Hutt is the team's spotlight player, complemented by a cast of rugged athletes including the West twins who have a lot of experience in big battles. Coach Denman's squad is built upon doing the little things to win games, and use a combo of skill and grit to energize their fans.
