Cancer-Fighting Event seeks interest from Larchmont-Mamaroneck Community
Relay For Life, the signature fundraising event of the American Cancer Society seeks local volunteers.

As people all over Westchester can attest, Relay For Life is not just an event, it’s an experience that brings hope and healing to entire communities that have been affected by cancer. In 2016, a dedicated group of individuals have committed to bringing this wonderful event to the greater Larchmont-Mamaroneck community.
Relay For Life is an overnight, team event that caters to families, neighbors, civic organizations, businesses and everything in between. Teams are formed in honor or in memory of someone who has battled cancer, or simply because they want to make a difference. Teams begin their fundraising prior to the event through car washes, sporting events, bake sales and other creative ideas.
Every single week 100 individuals are diagnosed with cancer in Westchester County; unfortunately both Larchmont and Mamaroneck are included in that statistic. The money raised through Relay supports the programs and services of the American Cancer Society. For example, in 2014, in Westchester County alone, the American Cancer Society provided 96 women with a free wig and 100 cancer patients received a total of 568 free rides to and from their treatment. In addition to many patient services that the American Cancer Society is able to provide, it also funds life-saving research at hospitals and universities.
