The debate was organized by the League of Women Voters of New Castle to provide an outlet for the community and the candidates to convene together. The candidates for the 89th District Assembly seat, incumbent Assemblyman Robert Castelli (Republican) and challenger Thomas Roach (Democrat), participated as well. Rather than questions being asked through a moderator, citizens were invited to raise their concerns in the public forum.
