Community Food Drive Set for Nov. 22 and 23
The Larchmont Mamaroneck Food Pantry's annual holiday food drive will take place November 22 and 23. Volunteers and donations are needed.

Our neighbors who need food this holiday season will be the beneficiaries of a food drive taking place on Saturday, November 22 and Sunday, November 23 at two local grocery stores. The Larchmont Mamaroneck Hunger Task Force (aka the Food Pantry) is sponsoring the food drive, in partnership with the United Way.

Donations of non-perishable food will be accepted at Stop & Shop on Boston Post Road in Larchmont, and A & P on Mamaroneck Avenue in Mamaroneck.
The need to help struggling families with food assistance in Larchmont and Mamaroneck remains high, explained Malcolm Frouman, President of the Food Pantry. “Every time we distribute groceries, we feed approximately 1,500 people, one-third of whom are children. New families register with us every time we are open. With the colder weather we are already seeing an increase in the number of families needing our help, and we expect to see this need rise during the holidays.”

“Fortunately, we live in a caring, compassionate community where we look out for one another and give assistance where help is needed,” he added. “Our annual Thanksgiving food drive is a lovely example of neighbor helping neighbor.” All of the food collected at the drive will be given directly to people living in Larchmont and Mamaroneck.
Volunteers Needed to Support Food Drive
From 9-4:30 on November 22rd and 23rd volunteers are needed at the A&P in Mamaroneck to collect, sort and load food, and from 4:30-6:30pm volunteers are needed to load the food that has been collected into trucks. Shifts are only 90 minutes long.
Volunteers are also needed on Monday, November 24th from 9am-noon at the CAP Center, 134 Center Avenue, Mamaroneck, to unload the trucks and sort the collected food. Volunteers can pitch in for as little as an hour or stay until all the work is done.
