'Cooking Blind,' Lions Donate Braille Cookbook To Library
The cookbook at the Larchmont Library for those with vision impairment is available to anyone in need of the unique cooking resource.

LARCHMONT, NY — Cooking in the kitchen can pose unique challenges for the vision impaired, not the least of which is finding a handy recipe book printed in Braille.
The Larchmont Mamaroneck Lions Club just made things a little more convenient with the donation of a cookbook for the blind. "Cooking Blind" is now a part of the Larchmont Public Library's permanent collection.
The cookbook holds 125 recipes and cooking instructions in Braille. The book in published by Vision Services for the Blind. The regional nonprofit is a beneficiary from volunteer and fundraising efforts of many of the Lion Clubs in the Hudson Valley.

Recipes are grouped by course, from appetizers to dessert. The book is printed on card stock so that the Braille dots protrude and are easily readable by the blind. The pages are bound in two large volumes, complete with a table of contents and an index, all in Braille.
