CT Man Caught With Pound Of Pot: NYSP

Police said he was initially stopped for a traffic violation on the Thruway.

MAMARONECK, NY — A Connecticut man was accused of having more than a pound of pot in his possession.

The New York State Police said, shortly before 9 p.m. Friday, a trooper stopped a car on Interstate 95 in the village of Mamaroneck for a vehicle and traffic violation.

After speaking with the driver, the trooper established probable cause to search the car.

Angel L. Rodriguez Jr., 29, of Rocky Hill, Connecticut, who was the driver, was found to have about 1.16 pounds of marijuana.

He was taken into custody and charged with third-degree criminal possession of cannabis, a misdemeanor.

Rodriguez was released on an appearance ticket returnable to the Village of Mamaroneck Court Jan. 13.
