DEC Notice of Violation to VOM Terminated
Since the notice was issued, the village has complied with all the requirements set by the DEC.
After an audit of the Village's Municipal Separate Storm Sewer Systems (MS4s) on March 12th, the New York State Department of Environmental Conservation (DEC) determined that the Village was in violation of its State Pollutant Discharge Elimination System (SPDES) permit, which could have translated to millions of dollars in fines. A few weeks later, the DEC asked the village to provide additional documentation regarding its MS4 program.
On May 14, the village receive a notice from the DEC stating that it had evaluated the information submitted by the village and determined that it "adequately addressed the violations noted." Therefore, the Notice of Violation has been terminated (see attached).
