Snyder will also talk about the different techniques in creating the ancient art form, from fresco painting on wet plaster to the modern works created on parachute cloth that is then glued to a wall.
“Murals have always been a very powerful way to connect with the public,” said Ms. Snyder, who has created public artworks from Pigna, Italy, to Port Chester. “Public art can have a positive impact on the community. It is accessible to all and has a transformative effect on an open space where fine art is integrated into the fabric of a given environment.”

A versatile artist, Ms. Snyder has created works in Europe, Brazil and several Westchester communities. Her works touch a variety of places, not only in different countries, but in different cultures within those countries. Among the most notable locally are a 12-panel installation of faceted glass at the Harrison train station, and a 6-story mural that brightens a Bronx neighborhood off the Grand Concourse.
The discussion will be held at the Mamaroneck Public Library, 136 Prospect Ave. in Mamaroneck.
