After years of struggle writing her memoir about a family practicing Christian Science,Greenhouse discovered The Writing Institute at Sarah Lawrence. For the next four years, shestudied the Art of the Memoir with Joelle Sander, a class that Sander has taught for close to twodecades.
“That class gave me the structure and discipline I needed,” says Greenhouse. “Joelle had a wayof helping me tackle very sensitive material. She gently encouraged me to go where the essenceof truth was.”
