Evacuation Zones Identified by Village of Mamaroneck

Residents in the village must evacuate the below identified areas before 5 p.m. today.

The Village of Mamaroneck had identified the below listed low-lying areas for evacuation by 5 p.m. tonight due to potential flooding that may prevent emergency personnel from gaining access.  These areas include:

  • Taylors Lane
  • Colonial Court
  • Barrymore Lane
  • Shore Acres
  • Flagler Drive
  • Rushmore Avenue
  • Greacen Point
  • Skibo
  • Nine Acres
  • Orienta
  • The Crescent
  • Seven Oaks
  • Seahaven
  • Nautilus
  • Constable
  • Bay Head
  • Pirates Cove, adjacent to the Mamaroneck and Sheldrake Rivers or near where flooding occurred in 2007—along Mamaroneck Avenue and Fenimore Road

“As a point of clarification and a general rule of guidance, the affected areas of the evacuation include areas that flooded in 2007 as well as the areas in Coastal Flood Zones in Shore Acres and Orienta,” said Assistant Village Manager Dan Sarnoff in a release sent out to the media.

For more information on the exact locations affected, please refer to the map to the right of this article.  A temporary shelter has been set up at the Post Road Gym at Mamaroneck High School; it will open at 5 p.m. on Saturday.

Although not designated specifically as evacuation zones, other areas that may potentially get flooded, according to former village trustee and Mamaroneck resident Dan Natchez, include Lawn Terrace and Guion Drive, South Barry Avenue near Guion Creek and adjacent streets near Lawn Terrace, the Continental View Area, Shore Road and all low-lying areas next to any stream, river or body of water.

Additional areas include the area of Columbus Park and most of Washingtonville,  North Barry Avenue and First Street as well as the low-lying areas of Louis Street, Bradley Street, River Street, Urban Street, North James Street , Ellis Place, Chestnut Avenue, Warren Avenue, Travers Avenue, Sound View Avenue and Grant Terrace.
