Everything You Need To Know To Register For Kindergarten in Larchmont-Mamaroneck

It's not too soon to register for kindergarten.

LARCHMONT-MAMARONECK, NY—It's not too early to register for kindergarten. Children whose fifth birthday falls on or before December 31, 2017, may be registered for the 2017-18 school year in the Mamaroneck Union Free and neighboring Rye and Port Chester School Districts.

February is kindergarten registration month at Mamaroneck Schools. All registration forms can be downloaded from www.mamkschools.org and must be returned in person to the new Family Information Center located at Mamaroneck High School (Boston Post Rd. side, main entrance).

Kindergarten registration starts March 1 for all Rye City Schools. Parents must submit a an application for approval by Central Administration. The form can be found here. Forms can be emailed or dropped off at 411 Theodore Fremd Avenue, Suit 100S, Rye, Attn: Janet Gray. You can call 914 967-6100, Ext. 6282 for more information. The office is open from 8:30 to 4:30 until June 30.

To register in the Blind Brook-Rye Union Free School District, bring all kindergarten registration forms and supporting documents to the Bruno M. Ponterio Ridge Street School main office, 390 North Ridge Street, Rye Brook, NY. If you have any questions, contact Frederique Sol at (914) 937-3600 Ext. 3027. You can find links for forms here.

To register a child with the Rye Neck School District, contact Dolores Ayaso, Registration Clerk, at dayaso@ryeneck.org. All forms provided in the District’s registration packet are posted on the Rye Neck website under the District tab, then go to District Forms and Student Registration.

The registration office is located in Rye Neck High School, 300 Hornidge Road, and the hours during the school year are 8:30a.m.-12:00p.m. and 1:00p.m.-3:00p.m.

Parents can find forms to register for the Port Chester school district here. Residency may be verified by a home visit by district personnel.

Parents enrolling children in any of these schools will also need a few up-to-date documents.

New York State law requires that all incoming kindergarten students have a physical and a dental health exam before entering school. Parents must bring a certificate stamped by a doctor, physician's assistant or nurse practitioner describing the student's physical condition. A current immunization record or proof of exemption must also be submitted.

Parents should bring the following identification to prove the child's age: a birth certificate, baptismal certificate or passport to prove the child's age. To prove the guardian's identity, bring as a valid, state-issued driver or non-driver ID card, a state or military picture ID. If applicable, bring proof of guardianship. Two forms that prove residency are required and can include a tax bill, driver's license, utility bill, paycheck stub or tax return.
